The folks with the TapouT Crew have been one of the great MMA success stories.. They started out selling T-shirts and grew to the point where they have become one of the most recognizable clothing lines in combat sports. TapouT is a big UFC sponsor and is also the subject of a reality shows that appears on the Versus network. Part of the theme of the show is that they search far and wide for the best up-and-coming mixed martial arts talent to offer their company to sponsor.

According to the TapuT website, “The TapouT logo has become so noteworthy that its most devoted fans are tattooing it on their bodies, demonstrating the ultimate in commitment.”

You better believe it.

At this juncture, for them to sponsor a fighter, he’s got to be something special. It is toward that end; that quest, if you will, that the TapouT Crew – and their TV crew – will be traveling to Wilmington, MA, right outside Boston, on February 8, when World Championship Fighting (WCF) holds its latest event at the Aleppo Shriners Auditorium.

There will be 22 fighters battling it out on the card; will one of them wind up a TapouT fighter?

Reality shows have become popular in MMA, obviously all coming on the heels of “The Ultimate Fighter,” the UFC’s reality entry that runs on Spike TV. The architect of “TUF” will be on hand on the night of the Wilmington show. Dana White, president of the UFC and a son of the Boston area, will be at the show, along with a few MMA fighters who will be giving out autographs, including the UFC’s Kenny Florian.

This is a really nice coup for this club organization out of New England, which gets some celebs in attendance and some TV exposure.

In one of the evening’s bouts, Dan Lauzon will face off against Andrew Calandrelli. Lauzon, a 19-year-old prospect, was, at age 18, the youngest fighter ever to appear in the UFC. His brother, Joe Lauzon, was once a contestant on “the Ultimate Fighter.”

Tickets range from $40 to $250, and fans can log on to www.WCFighting.com for more information.
