Ht: 6-2 Wt: 215
Born On: August 25, 1975 In: Omaha, Nebraska
Childhood Heroes: “Didn’t really have any.”
Hobbies/Interests: “Mountain bikes, guns, video games.”
Nicknames: “None.”
Funny Fighting Memory: “I was fighting this guy (Jason Allar) at the River Center here in Davenport. For money. A small show, just helping (manager) Monte (Cox) out. He was wearing regular gym shorts, not fight shorts. He was in my guard. I went to tip him and a piece of folded up paper fell out of his pocket. I remember thinking to myself that it was quite odd that I noticed something like that, right in the middle of a fight. I won in the second round – kicked him in the face and broke his nose.”
Pre-Fight Feeling: “I just try and stay relaxed. And go over how the fight’s going to go. I’m basically paying attention to thinking about the fight and keeping my wits about me.”
Childhood Dream: “Nothing. I never really thought about stuff like that back then.”
First Car: “1972 black Chevy Chevelle.”
First Job: “Paper route for the Omaha World Herald (age 11).”
Favorite Meal: “I don’t really have a favorite meal. I don’t like eating that much. It’s just a pain in the ass. Takes away from the other stuff I should be doing, instead of eating.”
Favorite Breakfast Cereal: “As a kid it was Cap’n Crunch. But I don’t really eat much cereal now.”
Favorite Ice Cream Flavor: “Chocolate.”
Greatest Sports Moment: “It hasn’t really happened yet.”
Most Painful Moment: “Losing to Elvis (Sinosic). Just it was such an eye-opener for me. I didn’t really take him seriously. I took him lightly. I should have won that fight. It was a real eye-opener.”
Worst Injury: “Black eye. From a punch (from) Jerome Smith. At a Hook ‘n Shoot show about two years ago in Evansville, IN.”
Favorite Vacation Spot: “I’ve only been on one vacation. To Jamaica last year. It was nice.”
Favorite Fighters To Watch: “Vanderlei Silva is probably my favorite. Oh, I just love his wreckless attitude. It’s fun to watch. Every one of his fights are the same. All fun to watch. Matt Hughes. His is a little more personal because having trained with him – watching people get manhandled by him – I know what they’re feeling. Jens Pulver. His knockout over John Lewis was spectacular.”
Favorite Fights: “Oh, way too much to list. I’m a huge fight fan.”
People Qualities Most Admired: “I just like to see honesty and humbleness. I don’t like people with big egos.”
