As Penn vs. St. Pierre II fast approaches one particularly interested viewer will be the UFC’s #1 Lightweight contender Kenny Florian. Check out what Ken-Flo thinks about the big rematch, his thoughts on Fedor, and more…
MMAMemories.com: Two of your favorite fighters get it on again this weekend, how do you think B.J. Penn vs. GSP will play out?
Kenny Florian: “It’s interesting. I could see either of the two winning. On a gut feeling, I feel B.J. is gonna win. I don’t know exactly why. B.J. has the edge on stand-up with his strikes, he hits harder I think. And GSP has better wrestling and fighting on the ground. He’s quicker on takedowns. I don’t see GSP stopping B.J. If he wins, he’ll win by decision. If B.J. wins I think he’ll win by either submission or TKO.”
MMAMemories.com: Do you think Fedor is unbeatable?
Kenny Florian: “He’s definitely beatable. He’s a very good fighter, unbelievable, but beatable. Everyone’s beatable.”
MMAMemories.com: Who could do it?
Kenny Florian: “Geez. I think there’s a few who could do it. I think Brock Lesnar could give him a run for his money. Randy Couture could really give him a run. And Andre Arlovski, if he made a few adjustments, I think he could too.”
MMAMemories.com: Like what kind of adjustments?
Kenny Florian: “I think he just got overconfident. He was winning the fight, picking him apart. Fedor seemed like he was just winging punches. It seemed like Arlovski didn’t really have a gameplan. Then he tried to go for a knee from a little too far out, and Fedor caught him. I think Arlovski was winning up to that point. But I still think Fedor is the best heavyweight in the world.”
MMAMemories.com: What’s next for you? Your next opponent?
Kenny Florian: “No next opponent. I should know in February. I guess a lot depends on what happens this Saturday. If B.J. loses, there’s a possibility of him coming down but I have no idea, just Ken-Flo thinking out loud.”
