Georges St-Pierre may be on his way to stratosphere where Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan and Oscar De La Hoya reside. With it being just a matter of time before MMA becomes legalized in the state of New York, the UFC Welterweight champion is poised to become a modern sporting superstar.
GSP received a one-page feature with a large photo in New York magazine in the July 13 issue in the Intelligencer section, titled “Enter The UFC’s Crossover Dragon.”
There were some interesting revelations about the 28-year-old Montreal-native St-Pierre:
* GSP comes to Manhattan regularly to hone is Brazilian jiu-jitsu and Thai boxing skills at The Wat Thai boxing gym in Chinatown.
* In March, Gatorade signed GSP to appear in the Canadian version of it’s “G” TV commercials, which will call him golden, gutsy and glorious.
* Creative Artists Agency of Hollywood has signed GSP who will appear in two kung fu films “Never Surrender” and “Death Warrior.”
* UFC 100 where GSP will defend his title against Thiago Alves on Saturday from Las Vegas will be simulcast live at Radio City Music Hall.
