First Fighting Memory: “My first boxing match at like 13. Stepping in the cage against a big dude. I was 13, the guy was 20. Pretty big. I beat him.”

Pre-Fight Feeling: “The best feeling in the world. The adrenalin like - I think pretty much all fighters get addicted to that feeling before the fight. But people don’t realize. People just want to be in the fight and finish. But it’s the feeling before the fight - the adrenalin - that’s why everybody wants to fight. Because everybody pretty much loves that feeling. The adrenalin. Everybody gets addicted to that [smiles].”

Greatest Sports Moment: “When I won the tournament in Denver after my brother passed away. Pretty exciting. (Defeated Trevor Prangley, Mauricio Rua and Jeremy Horn all on the same night at IFC Global Domination in September 6, 2003.)”

Funny Fighting Memory: “I don’t know. I have many funny memories in my life. (How about your nickname Babalu? offers Josh Barnett, standing with us.) Babalu is just a funny name. Because I was chewing bubble gum when I was a kid [smiles].”
